Cholamandalam Invesments and Finance, which is in the business of commercial vehicle financing and home finance, plans to enter the construction equipment financing business next year. The company would also look at raising resources through equity sale in the first quarter next fiscal to raise resources for the overall growth plans, said the company managing director, Vellayan Subbiah, speaking to the media here.

The Malaysian construction industry is largely dependent on imports of construction equipment, despite its relatively well-developed domestic manufacturing industry. The Malaysian construction equipment market consists of both domestic manufacturers and major foreign companies.

Completing the first municipally-based construction engine retrofit grant program in the Commonwealth, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) announced that pollution control technologies designed to reduce diesel exhaust emissions were installed on five construction engines in Bourne, Norton and Somerville.
